DEI stands for diversity, equity, and inclusion. As a discipline, DEI is any policy or practice designed to make people of various backgrounds feel welcome and ensure they have support to perform to the fullest of their abilities in the workplace.
DIVERSITY: State of being diverse, the practice or quality of including or involving people from a range of different social and ethnic backgrounds and of different genders, sexual orientations, etc.
EQUITY: The quality of being fair and impartial. Fair treatment, access, and advancement for each person in an organization
INCLUSION: The practice or policy of providing equal access to opportunities and resources for people who might otherwise be excluded or marginalized, such as those who have physical or intellectual disabilities and members of other minority groups.
DEI programs and policies encourage the representation and participation of diverse groups of people. This includes not only people of different genders, races and ethnicities, abilities and disabilities, religions, cultures, ages, and sexual orientations but also those with diverse backgrounds, experiences, skills, and expertise.
